Sulfuric Acid 98% — Cornerstone Industrial Chemical
Sulfuric acid at 98% concentration is the highest-volume industrial chemical globally, consuming more production capacity than any other single compound. It drives phosphate fertilizer manufacture (wet-process phosphoric acid), copper and zinc leaching in mining, petroleum alkylation and lead-acid battery electrolyte production. Our export grade meets 98% H2SO4 min with iron at 50 ppm and controlled ash content. From 100 MT.

Handling & Logistics
98% acid is hygroscopic — absorb moisture from air on exposure, diluting concentration and generating heat. Store in sealed carbon steel or alloy tanks with nitrogen blanket. ISO tank capacity 21–24 MT; vessel tanker lots from 1,000 MT for regular buyers. FOB loading at refinery or chemical terminal.
FAQ
Why specify 98% rather than weaker sulfuric acid grades?
98% maximizes freight efficiency — you transport almost pure H2SO4 rather than water. Downstream users dilute to working concentration (typically 70–78% for phosphoric acid production) at the plant site.
What materials are compatible with 98% sulfuric acid storage?
Carbon steel is standard for concentrated sulfuric above 93%. Below 93%, acid becomes aggressively corrosive to steel — never store diluted acid in carbon steel tanks without passivation assessment.
Can sulfuric acid shipments be combined with other chemical cargoes?
No. Dedicated tank allocation is mandatory. Cross-contamination with water, organics or alkalis causes violent exothermic reactions. Each ISO tank requires cleaning certificate before reload.
