Product overview
Melamine (1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triamine, C₃H₆N₆) is a nitrogen-rich heterocyclic intermediate derived from urea pyrolysis — placing it firmly in the ammonia value chain alongside fertilizers and industrial nitrates. At 99.8% minimum assay, our export grade feeds melamine-formaldehyde resin plants, decorative laminate impregnation lines, particleboard and MDF face-layer binders, and thermoset molding powder producers across Turkey, India, Southeast Asia and the Gulf.
Unlike commodity urea, melamine trades on resin-grade purity: low ash and tight moisture control prevent gel time drift in continuous press lines and reduce pinholing in high-pressure laminate sheets. The molecule carries approximately 66% nitrogen by weight, giving MF resins superior heat resistance, hardness and scratch performance compared with urea-formaldehyde-only systems.
Typical buyers include panel manufacturers securing quarterly cover ahead of construction seasons, resin compounders blending melamine into MUF recipes for E1/E0 emission panels, and traders building inventory when urea feedstock spreads widen. HS code 2933.61, CAS 108-78-1.

Loading ports & logistics
Containerized melamine is the standard export mode: 25 kg paper bags with PE liner, stretch-wrapped on wooden pallets, loaded into 20 ft or 40 ft dry containers at 22–25 MT per FCL. FOB origins include Black Sea and MENA chemical terminals with dust-controlled bagging lines and container stuffing yards.
Bulk powder parcels from 500 MT move on geared bulk carriers where origin plants operate dedicated melamine silos and pneumatic loading arms. CFR and CIF quotations add ocean freight and marine insurance; we confirm discharge-port bagging or bulk-handling capability before firm offer. Contract lead time is 14–28 days from payment instrument confirmation to container gate-in or vessel laycan.
Big-bag options — 500 kg or 1,000 kg FIBC with liner — suit resin plants equipped with bulk bag dischargers and reduce per-tonne handling cost versus 25 kg sacks.
Packaging & documentation
Each lot ships with a mill certificate of analysis showing melamine assay, moisture and ash. On request we arrange SGS or equivalent pre-shipment inspection at load port. Standard document set: commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin and safety data sheet (SDS) per GHS.
Bags are labelled with lot number, net weight and production date. Containers receive silica gel desiccant units when routing through humid transshipment hubs. Third-party fumigation or phytosanitary certificates are issued where destination customs require them for wood-pallet shipments.
FAQ
What resin systems use imported melamine powder?
Melamine-formaldehyde (MF) and melamine-urea-formaldehyde (MUF) resins are the primary outlets — decorative laminates, particleboard and MDF face layers, thermoset molding powders, and paper impregnation for furniture and flooring. Higher melamine content raises heat and scratch resistance compared with urea-only binders.
Why does melamine track urea and ammonia feedstock prices?
Industrial melamine is produced by pyrolysis and condensation of urea, so its cost curve follows natural-gas-linked ammonia and urea benchmarks plus plant operating rates in China, the Middle East and CIS. The USD 656–800/MT indicative band reflects current origin spreads; firm numbers are fixed at contract signing.
How is melamine powder shipped for export?
Standard export is 25 kg multi-wall paper bags with PE liner, palletized and loaded into 20 ft or 40 ft containers — typically 22–25 MT per FCL. Larger buyers receive 500 kg or 1,000 kg big bags. Bulk vessel parcels from 500 MT are available from selected origins with dedicated powder handling berths.
