Urea-ammonium nitrate at 32% total nitrogen is the highest standard concentration in the UAN family, packing more nitrogen per litre than UAN 28 or UAN 30. The 16% urea-N fraction provides extended residual feeding, while equal 8% ammonium-N and nitrate-N fractions deliver immediate and medium-term crop availability. At 1.32 g/cm³ density, UAN 32 reduces freight cost per unit of nitrogen on long-haul ISO tank and chemical-tanker routes to landlocked markets in Eastern Europe, Central Asia and South Asia.
Primary buyers include large-scale corn and sugarcane growers running sidedress injection, fertigation operators on centre-pivot systems, liquid-blend plants producing custom NPK suspensions, and industrial users requiring concentrated nitrogen feedstock. What tank infrastructure do UAN 32 buyers need at discharge?
UAN 32 requires heated or insulated storage above −15°C to prevent salt-out crystallization. Acceptable materials include 316 stainless steel, fiberglass-reinforced plastic and epoxy-coated carbon steel. Uncoated mild steel is not suitable for long-term contact.
How is UAN 32 applied in maize sidedress programmes?
UAN 32 is injected between crop rows at V4–V8 growth stages at 80–150 kg N/ha per pass. The high urea fraction (16%) extends residual nitrogen supply through tasseling, while nitrate-N gives immediate uptake on sandy soils.
