High-P starter for the same desk as DAP

Monoammonium phosphate 12-52-0 is the high-P starter grade. Quoted from 1,000 MT as a firm for your port and Incoterm. Not a screen price.

Min 1,000 MT

Overview

MAP 12-52-0 is nominated when the buyer wants maximum phosphate per tonne and a modest nitrogen contribution. The grade is 12% N min and 52% P2O5 min — the inverse emphasis of DAP 18-46-0.

Mildly acidic reaction in the root zone improves phosphorus availability on alkaline calcareous soils where DAP can temporarily raise pH near the granule. Water-soluble phosphate exceeds 90%. Moisture is held tighter than DAP at 1.0% max.

Solubility is about 370 g/L at 20°C. MAP dissolves cleaner than DAP, which is why fertigation desks and horticulture programmes specify monoammonium phosphate for tanks and drip lines. HS code 3105.40.

Forms

Starter band

Row crops and horticulture programmes that put a narrow band of phosphate with the seed, with nitrogen supplied later from urea or other N sources.

Fertigation

Liquid-fertilizer and greenhouse operators that need a clear solution without insoluble residues. Name fertigation in the notes if that is the end use.

Loading & logistics

High phosphate density makes MAP economical on long-haul routes. Contract MOQ 1,000 MT ships as 50 kg bags or 1,000 kg FIBC in containers, or on coaster bulk parcels from 1,000 MT.

Typical deepwater movements use handysize to panamax parcels from Black Sea and MENA phosphate berths. Lead time is usually 15–30 days from payment instrument confirmation to first laycan day.

MAP is non-hygroscopic but should remain covered at discharge to prevent rain-induced caking.

Packing: Bulk, 50 kg PP or 1,000 kg FIBC. FOB, CFR or CIF.

Docs

Mill COA confirms N, P2O5, water-solubility and moisture. Third-party inspection at load port available on request.

Standard export set: commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin, phytosanitary where required.

File notes

When should a buyer nominate MAP instead of DAP?
Choose MAP for maximum phosphate per tonne, banded row crops, horticulture and fertigation. Choose DAP when the planting programme needs 18% N in the same granule.
Is MAP suitable for drip systems?
Yes — MAP dissolves cleaner than DAP and is the usual nomination for clear solution grades. Name fertigation or greenhouse use in the notes so the file matches the end use.
