Overview

Working grade is MOP 62: potassium chloride with 62% K2O minimum. Granules 1–4 mm sit on a blend belt with DAP and urea. Moisture and insolubles are capped so the cargo does not cake itself into a dispute at discharge. Sodium chloride is held so the analysis stays fertilizer grade, not a salt cargo with a potash label.

MOP 60 is still used as a shorthand in many bids. MOP 62 is the cargo we put on the stencil when the mail says muriate of potash and does not specify otherwise. Extra K2O is more potassium in the same tonne — less deadweight on a long CFR.

Chloride-tolerant cereals and oilseeds are the natural home for MOP. If the crop programme needs SOP, write SOP in the same ticket — there is no separate SOP line page. HS code 3104.20.

Standard

The usual SEA CFR nomination and the form most compounders take when the blend belt does not need a sized granule for spreading.

Granular

Brazil CFR cash grade and any programme where spreading and handling after the port matter. Name granular in the ticket; do not assume a silent substitution.

MOP 60 vs 62

If your bid is written against MOP 60, say so. We will not silently substitute 62%. On a short coastal lift the difference is smaller; on a long haul it is freight.

Loading & logistics

Contract MOQ 1,000 MT. Bulk vessel is typical; bags on request. Handysize to panamax parcels move on established potash routes into SEA, Brazil and Mediterranean discharge.

CFR and CIF quotations include freight against the draft and berth you name. Lead time is typically 14–30 days from payment instrument confirmation to first laycan day.

Packing: Bulk vessel typical. 50 kg PP or 1,000 kg FIBC on request. FOB, CFR or CIF.

Mill COA for K2O, moisture, NaCl and insolubles. SGS or equivalent inspection available at load port.

File notes

Is MOP 62 interchangeable with MOP 60?: Not silently. Name the analysis your bid requires. MOP 62 is the line we quote by default; MOP 60 stays available when the file says so.
When do I need SOP instead?: Chloride-sensitive crops and horticulture programmes that cannot take KCl. Write SOP in the grade field of the same ticket.
