Overview

This is not a farm-bag sulphate. Elemental sulphur bulk is feedstock: the plant burns S, makes acid, and — on a phosphate complex — attacks rock. Ash and moisture are controlled for contact-process acid plants.

Recovered from Claus units at oil refineries and gas plants. Origins include Black Sea and MENA Claus-recovery terminals with established bulk loading. HS code 2503.00.

Buyers searching pastille sulfur or granular sulphur are on the same line. Form is half the file — plants do not treat pastille, granular and lump as interchangeable.

Forms

Pastille

Formed 2–6 mm discs for conveyor feed into the burner. Low dust — the usual nomination when handling without dust is the constraint.

Granular

Screened bulk cut, typically 2–8 mm. Same 99.5% S min; the screened alternative to pastille.

Lump

Crushed block for buyers who size at destination. Not a drop-in for a pastille feed system unless you screen.

Loading & logistics

Contract MOQ 1,000 MT. Deep-sea parcels often use dedicated sulphur bulk carriers; smaller lots assemble on coastal feeders where berths are shallow.

FOB at exporter-nominated sulphur terminal; CFR and CIF include bulk freight and a discharge-port compatibility check. Lead time typically 14–30 days from contract to loading window.

Sulphur dust is combustible — loading needs spark-free equipment and grounded conveyors. Classified UN 1350 (Class 4.1) for transport.

Packing: Bulk solid in dedicated vessel holds for export parcels. Bags are not the standard for lots above a few hundred tonnes.
